Gooseneck trailers are designed to couple over the rear axle of the towing vehicle, providing better maneuverability and stability. This is due to the weight of the load being distributed over the rear axle of the towing vehicle rather than behind it.

The rear of the trailer tilts, while the front half is stationary for stability.
